PERSONAL GOALS
My Philosophy
"Change is the end result of all true learning."
Leo Buscagalia
Hello, I'm Jolene. I've been in this industry since 2016 and have been working on my professional development since then. Being a part of the early childhood industry has brought much joy, meaning, and purpose to my life. What started out as a mere interest and passion for children has grown to become a core part of my identity and I am now a strong advocate for the meaningful learning of children. I believe that all children should be provided with an equal opportunity to quality education that most optimally supports their growth and development. Children are competent and capable learners who should be empowered to take ownership of their own learning. Personally, I feel that this is best endorsed when children are provided with ample meaning-making opportunities to construct their own knowledge and with the social environment to acquire knowledge through the interactions they have with others around them.
As a lead preschool educator and assistant supervisor, I have the opportunity to stir change in my organisation and possibly even in the industry itself. Though change is hard to put into effect, I will persevere on in my efforts to do so as I have the privilege of being in a position of power and to be able to receive education that allows me to impact the lives of the children. But being a driver for change myself will not make a lasting and widespread change in the industry itself. Hence, I invite all fellow educators to embark on this lifelong journey of growth and change with me! Together, we will make a difference and bring about positive change to the lives of the children.
